IN THE KITCHEN: OLD FASHIONED

As promised I am sharing the cake I baked for my Dad’s birthday. Direct from Miette’s cookbook I attempted the Old Fashioned (which is my favorite thing on their menu), this cake was so amazing. The recipe has many steps so you really need to pay attention. I was a little worried about the icing and the decorating, but it actually worked out perfectly. Thanks to my mom for guiding me through the proper use of an icing bag, I think I might take a cake decorating class now. I even made some cupcakes with the leftover batter, my mouth is watering just thinking about them.

Now that I have concurred the cake, my next recipe to try is the salted caramel. I cannot wait!
